I had completely forgotten that Ewan McGregor was in the great Dennis Potter programme 'Lipstick on your Collar' until I saw the soundtrack the other day. Was that his first major role?

He did a Bill Forsyth movie before but think it was a bit part. After Lipstick came Shallow Grave and then the one i guess that really took him up a level - Trainspotting (from FilmFour), also of course featuring Ewen Bremner fresh from his role in Motivating Yourself (?) [John Mole's film] (from Melrose Film Productions). What a tangled web we weave.

Motivating the Team. A good film that was! But I must confess it is many years since I have seen it and I cannot recall EB.

I loved Lipstick though. I still think of his Bragg interview occassionally.

Ewan was in the basement learning to read properly with a woman named Grendel or something (played by a very good Shakespearian actress whose name escapes me now) - it was all based on Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.

Bloody hell - great memory. I remember it now. I liked John Mole when I met him - he came across as an original thinker.
