I have just finished the God Delusion. Although I found myself agreeing with much of what he said I thought the whole book read like an elongated rant. I didn't think it was well written - almost as though his emotions were overwhelming his writing skills.
Although I did follow his advice and google 'American Taliban'. That WAS interesting.
I got the impression spending so much time dealing with zealots had started to rub off him. It reminds me of what Howard Jacobson points out in the brilliant 'Kalooki Nights' - the people who know most of the fine detail of the Holocaust are the Holocaust deniers, who immerse themselves in the very thing they hate.
