I was on the front page of the Birmingham Post (and the Editorial) last week - A leading workplace psychologist (!!), fleecing tax payers money to run stress courses for Birmingham City Council employees. The story is about 2% accurate. The council have had to pull a very large contract. As this is your happiness blog I will say that what I will remember are Housing workers telling me how great they found the seminars I ran and several of them said I have changed how they see the world. So happiness tinged with sadness.Douglas Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11577471519173216183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23739823.post-75958444827027772622007-01-22T10:42:00.000+00:002007-01-22T10:42:00.000+00:00You should have made out the only Birmingham Six y...You should have made out the only Birmingham Six you knew were a popular beat combo doing the rounds of the pubs and clubs back in the MidlandsArkAngelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03862353429314166555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23739823.post-5926383087907329262007-01-21T20:05:00.000+00:002007-01-21T20:05:00.000+00:00I saw quite a lot of some of them at Coleraine - H...I saw quite a lot of some of them at Coleraine - Horslips seemed to be playing almost every week as did Paul Brady. The best I saw was a great Davy Spillane gig at The Cambridge Folk Festival in 1989. I remember it so well because the next day I gave up smoking and have not lit up since. I had such an immense hangover and had a cigarette and felt savagely ill.

I used to get harangued at various bars (ask Una about the Derry and the Lismara) - 'What do you think of the Birmingham six' - you never knew which side was asking so I always said I had never heard of them.Douglas Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11577471519173216183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23739823.post-31444343744116813082007-01-21T18:04:00.000+00:002007-01-21T18:04:00.000+00:00Christy Moore is a real elder statesman. I am still not in Georgia - next week. In royaume unis 6/2.

Who was on? Some amazing footage from the 50's ireland folk scene - this was a remarkable programme. Makem and Clancey Bros playing for JFK a la maison blanche, the dubliners before they were dubliners, some great christy moore footage and a whole bunch of people I had never heard of but I want to hear more of from the late '50's and early 60's. BBC4 repeat everything so you will get a chance to see it.Douglas Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11577471519173216183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23739823.post-9484089557382518222007-01-20T18:18:00.000+00:002007-01-20T18:18:00.000+00:00Boollacks - missed it, who was on it?
